Overview

The Effective Cut-Off Date applies to items attached as Required by Course. It’s the last date a student can drop the course without being obligated to pay for the attached item. This article shows where to set the date and how it affects student commitment.

Before you begin

  • Cut-off only applies when Attach Item As = Required and Attach Item To = Course.
  • Ensure course enrollments are up to date in your SIS so drops are evaluated correctly.

Steps

  1. From the Main Menu, open SchoolCash Catalog.
  2. Create a new item or open an existing one and complete the required details.
  3. Start the attachment process. Set Attach Item As to Required and Attach Item To to Course.
  4. Enter the Effective Cut-Off Date.
  5. Select the course(s) to attach and Save.

Outcome

The item is attached by course with an Effective Cut-Off Date. Student commitment follows the rules below.

How the cut-off works

  • Student drops before the cut-off: The item is no longer a commitment.
  • Student drops after the cut-off: The item remains a commitment until paid and will show as overdue.

Troubleshooting

  • No cut-off field shown during attachment — Confirm the item is Required and attached by Course. Optional course attachments do not use a cut-off.
  • Item not appearing or dates look wrong — Verify the item Start Date and End Date are current.
  • Item copied from a prior year behaves unexpectedly — Update the item Start Date and End Date to the current school year.
  • Can’t find the item — Set the status filter to All and search again.
  • Still stuck — Contact your District Administrator.
