Introduction
When reconciling deposits, discrepancies can occur between the recorded deposit and the bank statement. This guide explains how to adjust records when a deposit is either short or over the expected amount.
Deposit on Bank Statement is 10 Cents Short
Note: Ensure you have the Deposit Date, Deposit #, and Category of the deposit.
If multiple categories are included in the deposit, determine which category loses the 10 cents.
Add Record (tab) option, then enter the following information.
SAVE entry: Click the Check Mark or press the Enter key.
Deposit on Bank Statement is $20 More
Note: Ensure you have the Deposit Date, Deposit #, and Category of the deposit.
If multiple categories are included in the deposit, determine which category gains the $20.
Add Record (tab) option, then enter the following information.
SAVE entry: Click the Check Mark or press the Enter key.
Bank Correction for Next Month
Note: If the bank corrects the discrepancy in the following month, select Add Record and enter the adjustment as -$20.00 (negative).
